The 2026 Faux Pas Lodge Invitational once again showcased the outstanding offshore fishery of Venice, Louisiana, bringing together competitive anglers to pursue some of the Gulf's most sought-after gamefish. With teams fishing the productive waters surrounding the Mississippi River Delta, the tournament delivered impressive catches across multiple divisions while highlighting the exceptional opportunities that have made Venice one of the nation's premier offshore fishing destinations. As the third leg of the Louisiana Champions Cup, the event also played an important role in the season-long championship race, with teams earning valuable points toward the overall series standings.

The offshore swordfish division produced the tournament's headline catch as Salty Nutz captured first place with an impressive 250.60-pound swordfish. Reel Bad Habit secured second place with a 158.00-pound fish, while Delta Boys rounded out the top three with a 54.60-pound swordfish. The results demonstrated both the quality of the fishery and the skill required to consistently target one of offshore fishing's most challenging species.

Competition remained strong across the calcutta divisions. In the dolphin category, Gulf of America claimed both first and second place honors with fish weighing 21.00 and 12.60 pounds, while Can't Get Right finished third with a 12.00-pound dolphin. The wahoo division was won by The Outdoor Addicts with a 33.20-pound fish, followed by Can't Get Right at 20 pounds and Gulf of America with an 18.20-pound wahoo. In the yellowfin tuna calcutta, The Outdoor Addicts continued their strong performance by weighing the tournament's largest tuna at 220.80 pounds. Can't Get Right earned second place with a 171.00-pound yellowfin, while Reel Time completed the podium with a 139.00-pound fish.

With quality catches across every division and another successful stop on the Louisiana Champions Cup schedule, the 2026 Faux Pas Lodge Invitational reinforced Venice's reputation as one of the Gulf Coast's premier tournament destinations. The combination of world-class offshore fishing, outstanding hospitality, and fierce competition continues to attract elite anglers from across the region, while the event generates valuable tourism and economic activity for Plaquemines Parish and further strengthens Louisiana's standing as a leader in offshore sportfishing.

"Tuna Town Wins Again" - Big tuna and big fun was this year's theme at the Faux Pas Lodge Invitational Rodeo.  Teams battled the choppy seas for a few days, but that didn't stop the tuna bite.  Angler John Maxwell of Team Outdoor Addicts weighed a 189 pound yellowfin tuna to secure first place and the heaviest fish weighed in the event. 17 yr old Blake Bosarge and his Team Unreel traveled from Gautier, Mississippi and landed a 168 pound swordfish to earn first place in its division.  The crowds gathered for weigh-ins and everyone enjoyed the live music and Cajun food at Venice Marina.

FPLI RECAP

This was a special year and tribute to the event's founder, Kleo Blue III, who recently passed. His love for the water and entertainment, attracted thousands of people to Venice for the 26th Annual event. The week kicked off with the "Wish to Fish" event, hosting 20 children and fulfilling their dreams of going fishing. There was extraordinary Cajun food for guests and sponsors were in the limelight. 133 teams traveled from across the northern Gulf for camaraderie, great fishing and southern hospitality. Some of the notable catches included 2 tournament record yellowfin tuna of 225.9 lbs and 217 lbs, 176 lbs swordfish and a 29 lbs red snapper.
